We’re all grateful to have choices when it comes to healthcare, especially as it relates to Medicare. With so many choices available, how can you be sure that you get the right plan for yourself? Here are some factors to consider before choosing.

Thinking of A Medicare Advantage Plan? Things To Consider:

1. In-Network Providers

Are your doctor and other health care providers in the plan's network?  If your provider is out of the network, you may pay more out-of-pocket or may not be covered at all. Always double-check this before enrolling in a new plan.

2. Prescription Medications

If you take prescription medications, are your drugs covered under the plan’s formulary? How much will your share of the cost be?

Your share of drug costs can be very different depending on the plan you choose. Some medications can be expensive and represent a big part of your annual health care cost.  A knowledgeable agent will help you navigate the wide variety of plan offerings to ensure your costs are kept within your budget.

3. Extra Assistance

Do you qualify for any extra help or assistance? Many people are eligible for help with prescription drug costs, payment of their Medicare Part B premium, and other programs that could provide tremendous additional benefits that they aren’t aware of.

4. Who Should I Talk To?...

Talk with a full-time professional advisor who isn’t just in business “seasonally." While enrollment generally takes place between October 15 and December 7 each year, you will be using your plan for the next 12 months beginning in January. You won’t know the true value of your plan until you actually use it. And you won’t know the value of having a great agent until you need someone to help you with any issues that might come up.

Consider working with someone who has access to all the top plans. This means they can make comparisons and offer you a plan that fits your specific circumstances. There may be changes to Medicare plans, so finding an advisor you can trust and count on will help you make good health care choices.
