About COTS Peggy's Place
If you’re facing or experiencing homelessness, Peggy’s Place has the resources to help. Based in Detroit, MI, this emergency temporary housing center is part of COTS, a non-profit organization that promotes stability for individuals and families experiencing homelessness by providing shelter services. Established in 1982, COTS opened a resource center in 1995 that would become the new location for a family-only emergency shelter. Serving the city of Detroit and the surrounding areas, this community organization creates opportunities for families to thrive while building stable households, neighborhoods, and communities.
COTS has served the community for over 38 years, providing 24/7 services. Their goal is to break generational poverty while helping homeless families and children in Michigan. They understand that there are many reasons a person may face homelessness and aim to be a welcoming and inclusive assistance center for people needing their services.
COTS’ family-only emergency shelter, Peggy’s Place, opened in Spring 2019. As an emergency shelter, they help families in the community by providing immediate temporary housing. Their supportive housing services help families in need get meals, shelter, and child care.
With the support of COTS, Peggy’s Place provides families with the resources to establish self-sufficiency and reach their housing, economic, health, education, and career goals. Support services include:
- Money management and budgeting services
- Nutrition and health programs
- Certificate programs
- Career development
As a non-profit organization, Peggy’s Place relies on partnerships and community support to help sustain their services. Call (313) 862-3234 for more information on their shelter and temporary housing services or how to donate.
