If you're like most people, you spend many hours a day staring at a digital screen at work. 1. Take Frequent Breaks

When working long hours, frequent rest breaks are good for your eyes and the rest of your body. Try to take a ten-minute break at least once per hour, and leave your desk if you can. Get up and stretch, take a brief walk around the building, or swing by the break room for some refreshments. However, you should avoid looking at your phone during your break, as that will increase your exposure to digital screens. 

2. Employ the 20/20/20 Rule

Along with breaks, the 20/20/20 rule gives your eyes a rest while you're actually working. Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away from your desk for at least 20 seconds to rest your eyes. Doing so helps readjust your eyes to the non-digital environment, while also limiting your exposure to your computer screen. You can also utilize the 20/20/20 rule at home when you're surfing the web, watching a movie, or gaming with friends.

3. Use Proper Lighting at Your Desk

Glare is a major contributor to digital eye strain. In addition to adjusting the brightness on your computer and using night mode whenever possible, you should also ensure the lighting around your desk is sufficient. Office lighting should be half as bright as your computer screen, so you may need to shut the blinds if there's excessive natural light in your work area. You can also use desk lamps with softer bulbs instead of harsh overhead lighting.
