Ways to Help Your Child Quit Training Wheels

1. Focus On Balance

Balance is key to mastering a bike, and your child will have developed plenty with their training wheels. Once they come off, take things slow, and begin by leading them by the handlebars. Pedaling and steering can be distracting, so find a straight, gradual slope. Allow them to glide down without pedaling so they can focus solely on keeping themselves balanced.

2. Take Your Time

They’ll be able to master balancing while also learning to bike defensively, pedal, and steer so that everything is in place for them to ride safely.
