Glue the wrong pieces in the wrong places.

Use the right type of cement or primer to seal the piping. Read the label before purchasing to ensure it is designed for PVC. Keep in mind that chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) is similar but not an acceptable substitute. Don’t use tape or Teflon paste either. Test with a dry fit. 

Before gluing the pipe, lay out the pieces to ensure they fit together well when connected and are cut to the proper length that you need. Mark the connections to remind yourself what goes where.
