One of the most common questions people ask the family dentistry staff is if there’s any way to whiten their teeth at home. Since so many people are willing to go the extra mile for whiter teeth, the team at Four Corners Dental Group decided to create this guide to teeth whitening practices:

  • Eat More Vitamin C Rich Foods: While it won’t give you a bright smile overnight, cosmetic dentistry professionals agree eating foods with vitamin C helps prevent plaque buildup, which can make your teeth look yellow. However, Vitamin C is difficult to stabilize, and fruit juices often have added sugar, so most dentists suggest skipping the OJ in favor of a fruit or vegetable, like a tomato or apricot.
  • DentistBrush With Baking Soda: Sometimes the simplest remedies are the most effective, and there’s a reason so many name-brand toothpastes boast about including baking soda. Four Corners Dental Group recommends combining about one-half of a teaspoon of baking soda with one-half of a teaspoon of water to make a thick paste. Brush with that mixture every other day for two weeks and you’ll be amazed at how much whiter your teeth look!
  • Swish With Hydrogen Peroxide: Most name-brand mouthwashes include hydrogen peroxide as one of the main active ingredients because it’s a highly effective bleaching solution. Swishing with hydrogen peroxide with equal parts water just twice a week will result in noticeably whiter teeth. While hydrogen peroxide is generally safe, the dentists from Four Corners Dental Group recommend asking a medical professional before making regular use of the solution.
