3. CT Scan

Computer tomography or CT scans use a series of X-ray images to create a cross-sectional view of your internal organs. During a CT scan, the X-ray source will rotate to gather several images which are then combined to give a more detailed picture of soft tissues, internal organs, and blood vessels. 4. MRI

An MRI or magnetic resonance imaging scan uses a combination of radio waves and magnetic fields to show images of internal organs and structures. While the images produced are somewhat similar to CT scans, MRIs differ in that the scanner surrounds the entire body. Since this process relies on radio waves and magnetism, there is no X-ray radiation exposure and it is therefore safe for babies and pregnant women. MRIs are primarily ordered to get images of the brain, spinal cord, heart, and other internal organs. These pictures can be used to diagnose ailments and monitor the success of treatment.
