The 78th ABC Pro Rodeo will temporarily be held at the Mallet Event Center in Levelland on April 2-4, 2020. The arena can hold about 2,000 spectators, so seats will fill up fast. If you want to attend this exciting event, book a hotel as soon as possible.
When Did the ABC Rodeo Begin?
The Downtown Chapter of the American Business Clubs began the ABC Rodeo in 1942 to sponsor the then Boys Club of Lubbock. Years later, the Boys Club turned into the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lubbock.
ABC stands for American Businessmen's Clubs, a.k.a. AMBUCS. AMBUCS has been able to raise more than a million dollars for the Boys and Girls Club since the rodeo began.
The Beutler family has served as the Stock Contractor for as long as the rodeo has been around.
The event was held at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum for several decades, but that facility is now gone. As a result, the event will be held at the Mallet Event Center.
What Types of Events Are Involved?
The ABC Rodeo includes a wide variety of events that will keep you entertained until you go back to your hotel. When you go to the rodeo, you can look forward to steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing, bull riding, team roping, bareback riding, and more.
Tickets for general admission and reserved seating are $10 dollars and $18 respectively if purchased in advance. If you wait to purchase them at the door, expect to pay either $12 or $20.
