Car paint has the power to transform a vehicle, but a lack of paint maintenance can make a vehicle look weathered and older than it is. Be mindful of a few warning signs that indicate your vehicle is ready for a touch-up.

When Should I Touch Up My Car Paint?

1. Peeling Clear Coat

The clear coat covering protects the car from the elements as well as corrosive road salt and bird excrement. Once this coating starts to peel back, car paint becomes vulnerable to premature wear. Depending on how much of the coating has worn away, you may need auto body painting in addition to a new clear coat on the affected areas.

2. Peeling Paint

3. Fading Paint

The power of UV rays eventually causes car paint to lose its luster and vibrancy, especially if the vehicle is always parked outdoors without the protection of a cover or carport. Vehicles that are not washed and waxed regularly are also subject to dulling paint.

3. Scratches & Dents

Scratches and dents on vehicle bodies can occur from any number of things, such as flying road debris, grocery carts, and accidentally backing up too close to a rusty fence or another vehicle. And while it is possible to remove minor scratches with paint sticks, severe scratches require a professional touch. The same is true of dents, as improper use of DIY dent removal kits can make the problem worse.
