Cooking in Vacation Rentals: 3 Mouthwatering Meals You Can Create
Although you are used to cooking in your home kitchen, the team at American Patriot Getaways knows there are simple and delicious meals you can make in vacation rentals that require little prep and few ingredients. For years, the company has been providing cabins for families and friends in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN, making their romantic getaways and reunions in Great Smoky Mountain National Park more comfortable.
Below, the team at American Patriot Getaways shares three fun recipes you can create in any sized kitchen.
Top 3 Recipes To Prepare In Vacation Rentals
1. Garden Omelet
Start the day with a light, yet satisfying, garden omelet with fresh veggies. All you need are a skillet, spatula, two bowls, a mixing spoon, olive oil, a carton of eggs, cheddar cheese, mushrooms, broccoli, salt, and pepper.
First, place olive oil in the skillet over medium heat and brown the mushrooms and broccoli. Once they become tender, place them in a bowl. Next, beat the eggs in the second bowl and add salt and pepper. Pour the mixture into the skillet and flip eggs occasionally until they become firm. Add the cheese over the eggs and place the mushrooms and broccoli on top. Fold the eggs over and enjoy!
2. Grilled Cheese With Caramelized Onions & Apples
This fancy version of grilled cheese will satisfy everyone in your vacation rental and give them fuel to enjoy a jam-packed day of activities! All you need are a skillet, bowl, cooking spoon, loaf of bread, cheddar cheese, three sliced green apples, two sliced yellow onions, two teaspoons balsamic vinegar, three tablespoons olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Using the olive oil, cook onions in a skillet over medium heat. After a few minutes, add the balsamic vinegar and stir until the onions are golden brown. Next, brown the apples with the onions and add salt and pepper to taste. Place the mixture in a bowl and wipe down the skillet. Place the bread in the skillet until it’s crunchy on both sides. Add one slice of cheese to each piece of bread. Place a spoonful of the apple-onion mixture on each piece and close the sandwiches. Take them out of the skillet and enjoy!
3. Oven-Cooked Spareribs
If you don’t have a grill, this cookout staple is easy to make in the oven. While it’s cooking, you can spend time with family and friends. You need a baking sheet, aluminum foil, a cooking brush, a rack or half rack of spareribs (depending on oven size), dry rub, mustard, and barbecue sauce.
Line the baking sheet with aluminum foil and place the ribs on top in a single layer. Using the cooking brush, coat the ribs with mustard. Next, cover the ribs with dry rub. Set the oven to 300°F. Heat the ribs in the broiler of the oven for five minutes until the dry rub starts to bubble. Then, move the baking sheet to the middle oven rack and roast for two to three hours. Halfway through, cover the ribs with aluminum foil to keep it from drying out. Thirty minutes before you’re done cooking, slather ribs with barbecue sauce and cover again with foil.
