Hawaiians and sports fans across the country are familiar with Aloha Stadium, which has been the scene of many games and events since it opened in 1975. But you might not know the stadium’s field has a new name. Hawaiian Tel Federal Credit Union in Honolulu purchased the naming rights in 2016 as part of a three-year deal with the venue and the University of Hawaii. It now is known as Hawaiian Tel Federal Credit Union Field at Aloha Stadium. The credit union’s name and logo appear on the field, which recently was upgraded to artificial turf.

Credit union Honolulu HIHawaiian Airlines held the field’s naming rights from 2011–2015 but chose not to renew after their $2.5 million deal expired. Hawaiian Tel Federal Credit Union took over last August, entering a three-year agreement with Aloha Stadium at $275,000 per year. Stadium manager Scott Chan told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser they are “grateful Hawaiian Tel Federal Credit Union was willing to step up to the plate.”

Aloha Stadium has been home to the University of Hawaii football team since 1975. It also has hosted national events, including Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer games. Several concerts also have taken place at the stadium over the years, including major performers like the Eagles, Whitney Houston, and U2.
