1. “Abbey Road” by The Beatles

“Abbey Road” was released on September 26th, 1969—and features such popular tracks as Come Together, Something, and Here Comes the Sun. While this album is notable enough just for the iconic music, it was also the last recording session with all four band members in attendance. Furthermore, the album came with the now-iconic cover of the group walking along the zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios.

2. “Space Oddity” by David Bowie

David Bowie is one of the most influential artists of all time, as was his album single “Space Oddity” released on July 11^th, 1969. Inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, the famous track is about Major Tom, a fictional astronaut, and his journey through the stars. The character is also referred to in tracks on Bowie’s later albums. 

3. “Tommy” by The Who

“Tommy” was released as a double album on May 23rd, 1969 and was composed as a rock opera. It tells the story of a boy who is “deaf, dumb, and blind” and goes on to become a pinball champion. Often referred to as the breakout album for The Who, "Tommy" was introduced into the Grammy Hall of Fame and the opera is still performed.
