Pearlridge Center in Aiea, HI, is known throughout Oahu for its fun family events and activities. As the largest enclosed shopping center in the state, the destination provides residents with new and exciting offers, and Jan. 2019 is no exception. From holiday attractions to art-focused festivities, below are activities to mark on your calendar.  

What Family Events & Activities Are Happening in January?

Rides on the Pearlridge Express

Now through Jan. 7

To continue the holiday spirit into the new year, the shopping mall will keep the custom-built Pearlridge Express, its scale-model, fully functioning train, open for rides through January 7. The locomotive takes travelers under 48 inches tall through an awe-inspiring holiday toyland. To take home keepsakes from the holiday tradition, families can shop for themed gifts and toys at the train depot. Ride tickets are $3.60 per child, with the option of buying 10 tickets for $35. The attraction is located at the Uptown Center Court.

St. Francis Hospice Bereavement Walk

Wednesday, Jan. 2, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Losing a loved one can be a trying experience for everyone in the family. To help those in the community cope with grief, bereavement walks through the center will take place the first Wednesday of each month. Participating in the ongoing family event will provide the opportunity to bond with others facing similar challenges. The first walk of the year will take place on the Uptown building’s second level.

Pali Momi Healthy Monday Screenings

Monday, Jan. 7, 14, 21, and 28, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Coping with loss can also bring up issues concerning your own mortality. To catch problems before they become life-threatening, the center will provide Pali Momi Healthy Monday Screenings. Each Monday in January, locals can have their blood pressure and blood sugar levels tested on the second level of the Uptown building, in front of American Eagle.

Comic Jam Hawaii

Sunday, Jan. 6 and 20, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Aiea-Hawaii-family-eventsOahu’s thriving arts community comes alive during Comic Jam Hawaii. The event welcomes local artists to collaborate on cartoons, illustrations, and sketches for mall visitors to view while spending time with their families. Patrons can also join the professionals and hobbyist to create the masterpieces. The family event takes place every first and third Sunday of the month in the Downtown Center Court.  

Saturday Pearlridge Farmers’ Market

Saturday, Jan. 5, 12, 19, and 26, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Apart from the many dining opportunities available at Pearlridge Center, the destination is also home to a weekly farmers’ market. Each Saturday throughout the year, area residents can purchase locally grown produce and plants as well as breads and baked goods from over 40 vendors. Customers can take their selections home or enjoy the treats in the 70-seat pop-up cafe while listening to live Hawaiian music. The Pearlridge Farmers’ Market is located on the upper level parking deck along Moanalua Road near Kaiser Permanente and Macy’s.

Hot Rods & Classic Car Show & Cruz Night with Bleizn’ FX

Saturday, Jan. 26, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Whether you are a car aficionado or a casual admirer, save a space in your schedule to attend the auto show at the center on Saturday, January 26. Locals can take an up-close look at the selection from Bleizn’ FX. The event will take place on on the fourth level parking lot above the Downtown food court.
