With the new school year approaching, your kids may experience a bit of melancholy now that summer is ending. With a busy schedule of homework and sports, they may feel overwhelmed and exhausted by the time they practice their instruments and voice. To keep them engaged in their schoolwork and extracurriculars, here are a few ways to inspire a love of music during the school year.

3 Tips on Keeping Your Child’s Love of Music Alive

1. Take Your Child to a Concert

A child’s first concert is a memorable experience and an ideal way to instill a love of music, especially after seeing a favorite musician perform in person. Look around for concerts in the area and ask your child for input if you can’t decide.  To expand musical horizons,  check your local listings for “ young people’s”  concerts especially to include classical or other types of music.

2. Register Your Child for Music Lessons

Music EducationMusic lessons can get children excited about singing and playing instruments. They will learn new concepts and spend time with other kids who have similar interests. Music can help children connect, and they'll gain confidence as they excel in their lessons and classes.

3. Ensure Your Child’s Instrument Is Primed & Ready

If your child is interested in playing a specific instrument this year, make sure your child has what they need. Get the instrument ready, along with the proper accessories, including music. If your child already plays an instrument, such as piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion,  guitar, or ykulele enroll your child in regular lessons or classes.
