3. Ale

Ales are perhaps the most common type of craft beer, featuring a bitter flavor, fruity scent, and alcohol content of between 6% and 12% by volume. They are slightly darker than a pilsner because the malt is roasted longer, although "pale ales" use a pale malt that gives them a lighter color and less bitter flavor.
