If you want to improve the appearance and structure of your teeth, you might consider asking about dental veneers. These are marvelous porcelain covers, much like veneering in cabinetworks an exquisite hard wood over an underlying, pine or even particle board. The tooth enamel is minimally prepared without the need for anesthesia, as this is a fully comfortable procedure. A temporary veneer is placed while the impression (mold of your teeth) is utilzed by a laboratory to fashion this highly esthetic covering to the teeth. Here's a tidbit for you to learn about this wonderful procedure.

What does the procedure entail?

Initially, the dentist will have completed an examine. This is necessary as the teeth to be veneered must not have dental decay. If there is decay several options are available and the dentist will decide what is best and discuss those with you. The dentist will evaluate other aspects such as the dimension length to width of the teeth to have an esthetic outcome. The bite is noted as veneers for a female are completely different than those fashioned for a male patient. And, of course the gums or gingiva is evaluated for health; restorating healthy gingival and correcting growth errors which affects final esthetics will all be evaluated and corrected if there are needs in those areas.

The dentist will normally discuss the shade of the veneers and show you options and teach you about shapes and locations of the incisial or biting edge of your front six teeth of the top (maxillary) or lower (mandibular) arches. This should be fun and informative. Every patient comes with different needs and expectations. At Dr Teresa Wade's office we take pride in the patient's involvement in all these stages and thereby the final beautiful smile that the patient has dreamed of having.

Once the dental laboratory follows the instructs sent for the patient by the dentist and creates the veneers, then the temporary acrylic veneers will be removed and the real permanent and porcelain veneers will be carefully placed.

Generally, this procedure never involves any discomfort so no anesthesia is required. It's fun, painless, and a beautiful dental procedure for the patients.
