Where It Is Prohibited to Carry a Gun

If you have your CCW permit in Illinois, there are some places it isn’t allowed by law. This includes public and private schools, preschools and child-care facilities, all government buildings, courts, hospitals, nursing care facilities, jails, public transportation, public gatherings that require a special permit, public parks, stadiums, zoos, airports, public libraries, places that primarily sell alcohol, and gaming facilities licensed under the Riverboat Gambling Act or the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975.

Signs should be posted in highly visible locations at places and events where it is prohibited to carry any weapon, including a concealed weapon. There are some exceptions to prohibitions, too.
