Extended Waiting Period

Under new laws, the waiting period to purchase a rifle has been extended to 72 hours up from 24 hours. This extension now matches the waiting period that is required for handgun ownership.

FOID Processing

New laws require state agencies to renew or deny FOID renewals within 60 days. If reapplication is submitted before the expiration date, the owner’s current FOID protection will remain active until a decision is made.
