The Apple® trade-in policy allows you to trade in eligible devices for credit toward another purchase. However, before you give away or sell a product, you should first take some precautions and remove any personal information from the device. The information below will explain what to do.

What to Do Before Performing an Apple Trade-In

1. Unpair Apple Watch®

Apple trade in Portsmouth, NHIf you've paired your Apple Watch with a device, remember to unpair it. You'll need to do this before you can connect the watch to another device in the future.

2. Back Up Device

To keep any contacts you've added or apps you've downloaded and transfer them to your next device, you should back up your content. You can do this either through iTunes® or the iCloud®

3. Sign Out

To forbid the new owner from accessing your information, sign out of iCloud or iTunes completely. To do this, you'll need to input your Apple ID and password.

4. Erase Content

Once you've backed up the device and signed out, you can safely delete all of the content on the phone. Navigate to “General,” “Reset,” and “Erase All Content and Settings.” This will remove all of your personal information and customized settings. Again, you may need to input the Apple ID and password.

5. Deregister iMessage®

Finally, if you're switching to a device that does not support iMessage, you should deregister it before you complete the Apple trade-in. To do this, click on “Settings” and “Messages” and then turn off iMessage.
