Now that it’s summer time, most of us are probably ready to spend a fun-filled day at the pool, go camping or floating, take a boat ride, or do some sort of activity related to water. While the newer iPhone models are more water resistant from previous models, that does not mean you should go around dunking your iPhone in every liquid you can find. Just because your iPhone model might be water resistant under certain conditions doesn’t mean it wont affect your device. Continued exposure to water or condensation can still lead to damage over time, and other liquids like coffee, juice, soda, or tea can also cause extreme damage to your iPhone device. As careful as we may try to be, accidents still happen!

The bad news is if your iPhone does experience water damage or liquid damage, you’re going to be stuck picking up the tab. Apple’s warranty does not cover water damage, so that little drop that manages to find its way in may lead to a couple hundred bucks in repairs or having to face replacing your device entirely.

The good news if that Experimax Portsmouth offers fast, reliable iPhone water damage repair services. The Apple experts at Experimax Portsmouth can get you in quickly to troubleshoot and asses the liquid damage, complete the repairs and get you back up running in 48 hours or less! In the event your iPhone cannot be repaired and must be replaced, Experimax Portsmouth sells certified pre-owned iPhone devices (and other Apple devices) that come with their Experisure warranty, and, they can also transfer your data!

If you think it's already too late and your phone has been damaged by water, here's how to check:

  1. Remove any protective iPhone case or cover and locate the SIM card tray, which will be on the right side of the phone, an inch or so below the side button.
  1. Using a straightened paper clip or SIM tray removal tool, press into the small hole at the bottom of the SIM tray and gently remove the tray.
  2. Shine a light into the empty SIM slot and look for a red color.
  3. If you see red … that's bad. That means the phone's Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) has been activated and that water or another mysterious liquid did in fact get into the phone, likely damaging it. Otherwise, you should see white or silver, and your phone is likely not damaged.
