3 Tips to Protect Your iPhone® Data
Losing your iPhone® has a number of troubling consequences. Along with having to buy a new one, you could lose your data. If your iPhone is stolen, there is the risk that the thief will access bank info. If you’re concerned, here are some steps to take to ensure your data is protected.
How to Make Sure Your iPhone Data Is Secure
1. Make It Impossible to Access Your Phone
If your iPhone is not already secure, create a password or turn on the fingerprint or facial recognition option. Doing so makes it impossible to access data without your unique user information. Also, enable Activation Lock, which makes a phone unusable by anyone but the owner.
2. Enable Find My iPhone®
Find My iPhone is a useful feature that shows your phone’s location on a map, so you’ll know exactly where it is. Other apps allow remote access to your phone, so you can remove credit card data and other information that could be harmful if it fell into the wrong hands.
3. Activate Lost Mode
Find My iPhone also allows you to activate Lost Mode, which is useful when dealing with a missing phone. When it’s enabled, a message and phone number will appear on the screen, with an option to call only that number or emergency numbers stored in your phone. You could, for example, leave a message on the phone that indicates that it’s been lost. All other info will be inaccessible when Lost Mode is activated.
