After a loved one passes away, you might choose to create a remembrance video to play at their funeral. Also referred to as a legacy video, the footage provides a closer look at achievements and other memorable moments in the person's life. To create this touching tribute, follow the advice discussed here.

How to Make a Remembrance Video

1. Speak to the Funeral Directors

Before you start to make the video, let the funeral directors know your plans. Ask what type of audio-visual equipment they have or can get. To find out how to format the video, you'll need to know whether it will be shown on a projector or television.

2. Search for Old Photos & Videos

The remembrance video should cover milestones (first communion, award ceremony, wedding, etc.) from childhood to adulthood. Look through your own photo albums and home movies for content to include. Reach out to relatives and the deceased's friends and colleagues for photos and videos as well. Keep track of the materials in a spreadsheet and write down the dates the images and videos were taken, if possible. This way, you can present the content chronologically in the remembrance video.

3. Create the Presentation

Next, start converting the printed photos into digital files by scanning the images and uploading them to your computer. Use Photoshop and other editing software to color correct and enhance old grainy photos. Use video editing programs to add the photos to the footage. You can also incorporate a soundtrack, so choose music that was meaningful to your loved one.
