Over the years, flat screen televisions have become more and more affordable. The crystal clear, high-definition picture flat screens provide, and their more accommodating size, has made them extremely popular. Unfortunately, flat screens TVs can often suffer from common problems, and the helpful experts at Maui’s Aka's TV & Electronics have put together a short list of troubleshooting tips.

If your TV is acting up, check the following:

  • Power: If your TV isn’t displaying a picture, it’s important to ensure your flat screen is receiving power. Unplugging it for several minutes, then plugging it back in can sometimes solve any connection issues. If this doesn’t work, check to make sure the outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.
  • Cables: If you have shoddy or improperly connected cables, it can affect your flat screen TV. Check to make sure all cables are properly plugged into to your television. During installation, you may have accidentally plugged one or two cables in the wrong place. Making sure they’re not loose, and all plugged into their respective input jacks is important.
  • Picture Settings: If you’re sure your TV is receiving power and all the cables are connected properly, you may have to readjust the TV’s picture settings. To do this, turn your television on, and access its menu. You can then follow your flat screen’s user manual to adjust the picture quality manually.
