However, if you select expandable ear plugs, ensure to wear them properly by rolling them before inserting them into the ear canal. 

Lubricate Machinery

Old machines with worn parts have higher noise levels due to components rattling against each other. Check the manufacturer's recommendation for the frequency of lubrication. For tractors, choose mineral greases if the farm's location is at constant temperatures. However, synthetic oils are more beneficial for machines in various temperatures to reduce friction and heat. For improved anti-rust properties, consider including additives to enhance grease protective properties like molybdenum disulfide or moly grease.

Forget Placing Signs

Putting signs allows other workers or family members to protect themselves from excessive noise exposure. Use "High Noise Zone" warning signs in areas where common above-noise level activities occur. Then, place hearing protective equipment nearby to remind workers to use one within the vicinity. Additionally, instruct workers to bring hearing protection anywhere on the farm as loud machines may blast noise without notice.

Allow Single Machine Operator

Machine operation exposes workers to unhealthy noise levels, leading to hearing loss. Instead of one worker handling equipment, arrange for multiple workers to operate noisy farm machines like backhoes and grain dryers. For example, worker A can work for an hour using noisy agricultural devices. Then, worker B can exchange places with worker A after an hour to continue the work. If there are limited workers, schedule loud tasks in between less noisy ones to give the workers rest.
