Nearly 200 million people use iPhones® for calls, messaging, and internet access. Although these features are convenient, they can drain the phone's battery life and make it take longer to recharge. When a smartphone loses battery power, it renders the device unusable until it can be properly recharged. Before you take your device in for smartphone repairs, try extending the battery life with one of these methods.
How to Extend iPhone Battery Life
1. Watch the Temperature
Keep tabs on your iPhone's exposure to temperature extremes, particularly to heat. The device shouldn't be subjected to temperatures over 95 degrees. If it is routinely exposed to this level of heat, the battery's lifespan can be significantly shortened, and you'll find you need to charge the battery more often. Heat can also cause performance issues, slowing down the device's response and functionality, and, eventually, you'll likely need smartphone repairs to correct the problem.
2. Manage Your Apps
Apps can consume an inordinate amount of battery power. Review the apps on your phone and remove any that are not in regular use. Go to Settings, then to Battery to see a list of apps, how much battery power each one is using, and how much time each one spends running in the background.
Deleting unused apps will free up storage space and result in a lighter load for the battery, prolonging its life before it needs to be charged again.
3. Use Low Power Mode
Low power mode is a setting that restricts the activity of your iPhone to save battery power. You can still do basic tasks like place and take calls, send texts and emails, open apps, browse the web, and use GPS. The phone will cease several nonessential functions, including email fetching, automatic downloading, and background app refreshing.
On most iPhones, you'll have the option of entering low power mode once the device hits 20 percent battery life, but you can turn it on manually as well by tapping on Settings and then Battery before switching the Low Power Mode toggle to the "on" position.
