A fence helps provide security and increases the privacy of a property. When a homeowner asks you about having a fence installed, you need to make sure you have the right tools. For some projects, you may need to visit an equipment rental shop to get the job done properly and promptly. Here are some of the tools and equipment a professional needs when installing a fence.

3 Types of Equipment for Fence Installation

1. Protective Tools

To avoid construction injuries, always prioritize safety. Never underestimate the value of proper protective gear, such as safety goggles and dust masks along with long pants. Goggles will prevent wood or metal from getting in your eyes, while a dust mask is an inexpensive piece of respiratory protection against sawdust and flying dust. These tools allow you to work safely and comfortably while preparing the site or installing the fence.

2. Auger Driver

Drilling holes in the ground is a necessary step in laying the foundation for a fence. The appropriate depth and width for  your holes are usually available from your building department,.  The size of the posts you are putting in,  will  determine the diameter and your climate will determine the depth.  Instead of buying heavy-duty machines for the job, consider equipment rental, where you can get the same equipment professionals use to get your job done quickly and safely.

Renting a drilling device known as an auger driver will be invaluable for installing fences that require multiple holes. Depending on the quantity of holes and the difficulty of the drilling conditions in your area you may need one of three different machines. For the most difficult soil and or a high number of holes you probably want a Mini Skid loader with an auger attachment and bit. This machine has hydraulic down pressure and the power to get through some rooted and rocky soils. The next machine inline would be a towable auger. This is a hydraulic auger also but does not have hydraulic down pressure. It digs very efficiently but does require more effort on the operator than the mini skid. Thirdly the one man mechanical earth drill. This unit is very popular with fencing companies because its eight horsepower engine can dig through very tough soil, however this unit has no reverse so the operator has to be careful he does not get stuck on a rock or root. All three machines are very  competent drilling units. When you decide to drill for your fence stop in at ABC Equipment and see us to see your options.

3. Cutting Equipment

Building a fence often involves cutting planks of wood, metal pipes, and steel sheets. Depending on the amount of cutting work required, you might need a chain saw, circular saw, and miter saw. You can cut on-site or beforehand in a separate workshop location. Having the correct tool will allow you to perform this part of the fencing process with relative ease. Many fencing panels come cut to size already for ease of installation.
