If your children express an interest in sports and physical fitness, sign them up for ninja classes. This emerging sport combines elements running, jumping, climbing and gymnastics for a complete workout that’s dynamic, challenging, and fun. Here’s more information about ninja and its benefits.

The Origins of Ninja as a Sport

In 1997, a Japanese television program, Kinniku Banzuke, hosted a ninja segment that featured competitors navigating a variety of challenging, physical obstacles. This segment was so popular that it became part of the show and was given its own name: sasuke, which translates to ninja warrior.

Sasuke became its own show and was quickly syndicated to American television networks. Networks in the U.S. started running their own versions of the ninja warrior show, and over the past 10 years, ninja programs and competitions have emerged in fitness and gymnastics centers throughout the nation.

Ninja Training

ninja classesThe obstacles in a ninja course will vary because there isn’t a mandatory size, shape, weight, or material that needs to be used. To combat this uncertainty, ninja training strengthens almost every muscle in the body, as the competitor needs to be strong enough to maneuver through any obstacle.

Ninja training focuses on mastering control over the body and improving your reaction time. Competitors in this sport also enhance their balance, as many obstacles are designed to challenge your center of balance. Many ninja competitors practice climbing ropes to build strength and endurance. They also participate in gymnastics to assist with bodily awareness and flexibility.
