You probably already know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but you may be unsure how to get involved. Thankfully, there are all kinds of ways to support the cause, from wearing a pink ribbon pin to running a road race that funds cancer research. If you live near an auto repair shop that participates in Brakes for Breasts®, you could also take part by bringing your car in for some much-needed maintenance.

What Does Brakes for Breasts Entail?

Brakes for Breasts is an organization that supports breast cancer research by providing free brake pads or brake shoes to consumers when purchasing a complete front or rear brake job through participating auto repair shops. These shops replace their customers’ old brake padsor shoes, and they only charge them for the labor, rotors/drums, and any extra parts.

auto repairThen, they donate 10% of what they earn from each brake service to The Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Research Fund. This organization supports a groundbreaking research initiative: launching a clinical trial to test the greatly anticipated breast cancer vaccine.

How Can I Participate in Brakes for Breasts?

Brakes for Breasts was established in 2011 and has since grown to include more than 138 independent auto repair shops across 34 states and two countries. If you want to participate, it’s easy: Just find the participating shop nearest you, and schedule brake pad replacement sometime during the month of October. If your brakes aren't due for service, but you still want to support the cause, you can also make a donation online

Jim's Auto Clinic in Cincinnati, OH, is proud to support Brakes for Breasts this October. Since 1974, this independent auto repair shop has been servicing vehicles for clients throughout the West Side of Cincinnati. A full-service shop, they can work on virtually any make and model; however, they've established a reputation for being the best in the business when it comes to Japanese-made vehicles in particular. To explore all the services they provide, visit their website. To schedule your brake pad replacement, call (513) 662-6696.
