Yes, our company was a victim of this heinous crime a little over two years ago (RANSOMWARE CRYPTO). I Believe it came in an E-mail. I did not pay the ransom. I reformatted my hard drive and install my backups. Now I receive about one or two messages a month from Windstream like this:

A virus was detected in a message sent to your email address.  For your protection, the message containing the virus was not delivered to your inbox.  There is no threat to your computer from this message. Detected Virus: "Virus:Ransomware/Locky"

So be careful and backup your system.
