The doors you choose for your commercial building impact both the functionality of your entryway and the first impression you make on visitors. Different buildings call for various types of commercial doors, so here are some of the main options to consider.

What Are the Different Types of Doors for a Commercial Building?

1. Manual

Manual doors swing open on hinges, but commercial doors generally consider two panels made of quality materials like aluminum, wood, or reinforced glass. These doors require a bit of clearance in the direction the doors open. They can be the main entry point, or a supplemental option, in case other doors malfunction.

2. Automatic

Automatic doors have sensors or buttons that open them without manual effort. These are easier for visitors to operate, especially those with mobility concerns or anyone carrying bulky objects. Automatic doors are available in various forms, including those on hinges, sliding doors, and revolving doors.

3. Sliding

Sliding doors can open automatically or manually, but the panels slide to the side instead of swinging on hinges. This is ideal for areas without a lot of clearance, like doors that open directly onto sidewalks or walkways. However, there does need to be another panel next to the opening door.

4. Revolving

Revolving doors fit into a circular enclosure and have sections that people enter through. These can be automatic or manual, and they tend to be fairly energy-saving, since they prevent the outdoor air from going directly inside each time the door opens. Revolving doors do require some extra space, but they do not need clearance beyond the enclosure.
