A Guide to Must-See Exhibits at Memphis’ Premier Museum

The Enchanted Forest: Festival of Trees

Memphis-Tennessee-museumOpen November 18 through December 31, this exhibit celebrates the majesty of the holiday season. A 65-year-old Memphis tradition, visitors can expect to see sparkling trees lining the museum mezzanine—decorated by professional designers and local businesses—while a model train display weaves its way through a miniature village, covered in a blanket of snow. An experience for each of the senses, the exhibition features an aromatic gingerbread village.

The exhibition also includes a chance to view the trees as they sparkle on Friday nights throughout December. Photos with Santa are available through December 24.

LeMoyne-Owen College: A Beacon of Hope

There are many historically significant landmarks in the Memphis area, including LeMoyne-Owen College. Since 1871, when founded as the LeMoyne Normal and Commercial School, the historically black college has provided generations of civic leaders, educators, and professionals with the building blocks needed to succeed.

LeMoyne-Owen College: A Beacon of Hope, an ongoing exhibition, showcases the institution’s art, athletics, academics, campus life, notable alumni, and the role students played in the Civil Rights Movement.
