Do you find yourself deleting apps, photos, and other content to free up space on your iPhone®? It’s a common issue, and there are many ways to resolve it. Use the following tips before upgrading your Apple® device to increase storage.

How to Handle Low iPhone Storage

1. Move Your Photos & Videos to iCloud®

Photos and videos take up the bulk of iPhone storage for many users. You don’t have to save them on your device—instead, upload them to iCloud. This Apple service provides a secure place to store photos, videos, and text documents. You’ll notice an immediate increase in storage, which you can check by going to Settings>General>iPhone Storage. It’s also a safe way to store backups in case you lose your Apple device.

2. Clear the ‘Other’ Category

apple deviceWhen you look at the breakdown of your stored content in iPhone Storage, you’ll notice a category called Other, which can be taking up a lot of storage. This is where caches from Safari®, logs, Siri® voices, and random system files and updates are stored. You can’t remove Other altogether, but you can clear space. For example, delete old messages. Go to Settings>Safari and click Clear History and Website Data. You should notice a significant increase in space.

3. Delete & Reinstall Large Apps

A lot of apps will store logs and other content that you don’t need. Go to Settings>General>Storage & iCloud Usage. Click Manage Storage, and you’ll see how much space app data is taking up. You can then delete these apps and reinstall them. Doing this removes all the unnecessary content they’ve stored.
