3 Tips for Using the Apple® Photos App
iPhone® cameras are extremely powerful, and the Apple® Photos app is an easy way to manage the arty and everyday pictures you take. This convenient tool is available on mobile and desktop Apple devices. Whether you’re a new or longtime Apple aficionado, use the following helpful tips to make the most of this creative service.
Tips & Tricks With Apple’s Photos App
1. Use Seamless Sharing Tools
Want to send a photo you’ve just taken to a friend? You can easily capture and send it immediately in the Photos app. Open it and tap the Photos tab in the bottom left corner. You can then scroll left/right and select which photo to send by checking the box in the top right corner. Choose one or several.
Below the photos are suggested contacts you can send your choice to in a text. You can also group recipients for mass sharing. You’ll also see the AirDrop® sharing option, which lets you send pictures to nearby Apple devices and offers the ability to send an iCloud® link. Recipients can then browse a large number of photos without them taking up space on their device.
2. Browse By Media Types
Use the album sub-tabs to browse specific photo types quickly. There, you’ll see favorites, videos, screenshots, selfies, and other categories the photos are grouped into. This saves valuable time when you know what type of image you took but not where it is.
You can even view deleted photos, which are saved in their own folder for 30 days. When viewing these, press Select in the top right corner and choose any photos you’d like to restore.
3. Use Easy Adjustments
The Photos app includes several adjustment tools. Select a photo, and you’ll see options to crop, rotate, edit the color, and more. There’s also an auto-edit feature. Click the dots around a circle on the photo and tap the magic wand to touch up an image professionally.
You can also capture a still from a Live Photo®. Choose an animated photo and tap Edit. Tap the Live icon and scroll left to right through all the stills. Choose your favorite and press Make Key Photo.
