From tracking your heart rhythm and power-walk steps to setting smart technology features in your home, the Apple Watch® is designed to perform a wide range of tasks. Like any piece of technology, however, the device can occasionally encounter problems. Here are some of the most common ones seen by Apple® repair technicians.

What Are the Most Common Apple Watch Repair Issues?

1. Sudden Battery Shutdown

One of the main triggers for battery shutdowns in Apple watches is not installing the latest updates. To remedy the problem, be sure to regularly check software updates in the settings menu for the newest versions. Installation should stop or improve poor battery performance.

Resetting the watch can also help. To reset, hold the side button and digital crown simultaneously and wait for the Apple logo to appear.

2. iMessage® Failure

Some people bring their watch to an Apple repair specialist because of a failure to receive messages. This issue is likely caused by a disconnect between your Apple ID® and the watch.

Check the general section on your iPhone® and confirm you’ve signed on with your ID. If you’re connected but still aren’t seeing messages, go to the settings section and turn off the iMessage toggle. Wait a few seconds before turning it back on. This should allow messages to reach you now.

3. Lack of Notification Display

Apple repairsOne of the most sought-after features of the Apple Watch is its display of important notifications. When they fail to show up, your watch may be locked.

Look for a padlock icon at the top of the device’s screen. After tapping the screen, you’ll be asked to enter your passcode to unlock the watch. Notifications should resume immediately.

4 Problems Powering Up

By raising your wrist, your Apple Watch should turn on right away. When it doesn’t, it’s possible the feature hasn’t been activated. Go to your settings section and tap on the wake screen prompt. Make sure the “wake screen on wrist raise” is also on. Follow the same steps on your iPhone if the watch still fails to power up after raising your wrist.
