The original design for the Bust dollar was called the "Flowing Hair Dollar," which was minted in 1794, and was the first silver dollar even though it was actually 90% silver (the rest was copper). The design was abruptly changed a year later to that of the Bust dollar, also known as the "Draped Bust Dollar."This coin was minted until 1803, and was then reproduced until the 1850s.
