Top 3 Numismatic Awards Given to Coins Plus
1. Harry J. Forman Award, 2013
Every year, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) holds a convention called the World’s Fair of Money. The event draws thousands of coin collectors, dealers, and hobbyists from around the world and features an auction, educational presentations, and more. It is here that they also announce that year’s recipient of the Harry J. Forman Award for the “Best Coin Dealer in the United States.” In 2013, Coins Plus’s own Brad Karoleff received this high honor thanks to his dedication to and passion for numismatics as well as the ANA. Even now, five years later, Karoleff remains an active member of the ANA and works to strengthen the hobby.
2. Glenn Smedley Memorial Award, 2007
Six years prior, the Coins Plus team received another award from the American Numismatic Association at the World’s Fair of Money– this time the Glenn Smedley Memorial Award. Glenn Smedley was a late ANA member and hobby enthusiast regarded as a “collector’s collector.” Every year, the ANA honors a coin dealer who embodies the spirit of Smedley including his positive attitude, dependability, and love of the hobby. In 2007, that dealer was Brad Karoleff.
3. Jules Reiver Literary Award, 2016
Besides being an expert coin appraisal specialist and a collector himself, Brad Karoleff is a prolific writer. He has contributed to a wide variety of numismatic publications including the Redbook and the Bluebook, CoinWorld, and The John Reich Journal. In 2016, he received the Jules Reiver Literary Award for his article “Dismissing the Castaing Machine Myth” from Volume 26 of the John Reich Journal. Today, Karoleff is not only the JR Journal Editor but also president of the John Reich Collectors Society, further demonstrating his love for the hobby.
