3 Tips for Using the MacBook Pro® Touch Bar™
When it comes to Apple® devices, intuitive use is the name of the game. This is true of all their devices, and the MacBook Pro® with a Touch Bar™ is no different. This feature is a thin, OLED display across the top of the keyboard that responds to your touch. It’s one of the most valuable features, giving you the functionality of a touchscreen without the need to compromise the crispness of the main Retina® display. Whether you have one that’s brand-new or you bought a refurbished MacBook recently, here are a few Touch Bar tricks to try out.
How to Get the Most Out of Your MacBook Pro's Touch Bar
1. Surf the Web Quickly
If there are websites you visit daily for work or leisure, you can easily access them through touch alone. All you need to do is save them to your favorites in Safari, and they'll appear in the Touch Bar. To make sure they’re in a particular order, you can rearrange them in Safari.
2. Generate Predictive Text
If you have an iPhone® or iPad®, you may be used to the predictive text feature for writing text messages or emails. If you want to have that on your new or refurbished MacBook Pro, the Touch Bar makes it easy.
When you’re in a message or text box, simply touch the keyboard icon near the right side of the bar, and it will activate the feature. When you’re done, just touch it again. The intuitive Touch Bar will even suggest emojis.
3. Make Standard Settings Your Own
There are a lot of features already included on the standard Touch Bar. The default set is limited to brightness, volume, and Siri®, but you can add access to favorites like the Notification Center, Launchpad®, Spotlight®, and much more.
The Touch Bar can add convenience based on your specific habits. For example, include a feature to create a screenshot more easily. To do this, open System Preferences, select Keyboard, and choose Customize Control Strip to view your options.
