When it comes to golfing, having all of your supplies on hand is a must. It’s not uncommon to misplace, drop, or simply forget essential gear for the course. Make the most of your golf outings by packing your bag ahead of time with the following necessities.

What Should You Keep in Your Golf Bag?

1. Water Bottle

Never go on the green without a full water bottle. Even when the sun isn’t beating down on you, multiple hours of walking with a heavy bag expends more energy than you might think. Stay hydrated throughout the round and refill at available water stations.

2. Writing Tools

Don’t get caught on the course asking your golf buddies for a pencil. Show up prepared with pre-sharpened pencils, pens, markers, and scorecards. These items get frequently dropped and left behind, so bring plenty of extras. Use a permanent marker to mark the balls for easy identification.

3. Extra Balls & Tees

golfMost golfers know to keep a few extra balls and tees in their bag, but you don’t want to run out on the very last hole. You might find yourself breaking a short stock of tees as well. Depending on the difficulty of the course, bring six to ten balls with you and a handful of tees.

4. Weather Gear

No matter what the morning report says, you can’t always predict the weather. Pack an umbrella, hooded jacket, and rain gloves, and be sure your golf bag has a cover for the clubs. Protect your skin from harmful UV rays with sunscreen, even when it’s cloudy. Wear sunglasses on bright days to keep track of the ball against the glare of the sun.

5. Ball Markers

Sometimes you’ll need to pick up a ball to clean it or clear a putting path for fellow golfers, but you don’t want to lose your place. In this situation, you need a ball marker on the green. These markers should be round and flat, so bring a few coins for this purpose.
