One of the best parts of warm weather is being able to entertain outdoors. You may love barbecuing for your friends and family. However, to keep it up, you must keep your propane grill in good shape between dinner parties. Here are a few cleaning tips.

How to Take Care of Your Propane Grill

1. Test the Gas Lines

Test your grill's gas line monthly to ensure safe operation. To do so, coat the line with some soapy water. Turn the gas on and check the line to see if you spot any bubbling. If you do, tighten the connections. If the bubbling doesn't stop, replace the line before the next time you grill.

2. Keep It Covered

These appliances are made of metal. They are also kept outside in the elements, which is a recipe for rust, corrosion, and dirt. While your grill probably didn't come with a cover, most manufacturers sell them separately.

If it is mobile, you can also store it in a shed or garage. Keep it and your propane tanks away from combustible materials.

3. Scrub After Each Use

One of the most essential barbeque accessories you can buy is a wire brush. After grilling, use the brush to scrub away any debris that was left behind while the surface is still warm. The top of the brush will double as a metal scraper for particularly stubborn spots.

4. Deep Clean Periodically

Once or twice each year, your grill will need a deep cleaning to get it back to like-new condition. Remove the grates and burner protectors and soak them in a garbage bag or bucket of soapy water or diluted white vinegar. Meanwhile, wipe down the burners. Remove the bottom tray, empty it, and then reassemble your appliance.
