If you're creating an accent wall, choose the tallest wall in the room for rooms with slanted ceilings and a lighter cream color for the rest of the walls. If you want to paint an entire room, choose a smaller space, such as a powder room. 

2. Use Ample Lighting

Black absorbs light rather than reflecting it, so you'll need to compensate for this with some extra light. Track lighting, wall sconces, or opulent chandeliers create a dramatic touch that draws the eye while balancing out the darker walls.
