HIDDEN VALUE Here at Coins Plus we pride ourselves on knowing more about classic United States coins than our competitors. Would other coin dealers know why Coins Plus paid $6600 for this coin? Let’s find out. First, you can see that the coin has been professionally graded by PCGS. The grading label lists it as a VG10. The Coin Dealer Newsletter (dealer wholesale guide) lists a generic dime in this grade for $50, your Redbook also lists it at $50. Now why would we think it is worth so much? The part I did not tell you is that this is the rare curl base 2 variety. There are currently less than 60 known of this particular variety of 1829 dime. The PCGS label does tell you that it is the curl base 2 variant, but if it were not in the holder would your local dealer tell you the truth? The experts at Coins Plus know the minor differences in classic US coins that can make them worth multiples of the more common varieties. We have clients looking to purchase these pieces and we are willing to pay a significant premium for the right specimens. So, if you have old US coins for sale show them to the experts at Coins Plus to receive full value for your coins. We have been in business in Cincinnati since 1972- a testament to how fair we have been to our clients over the years. We look forward to serving you in the future.
