When it comes time for your snorkeling tour, it’s natural to feel excited yet a bit nervous for your underwater adventure. The key to feeling confident for your excursion is to be prepared. Use the following list to ensure you have everything you need for the big day.

4 Items to Gather in Preparation for Your Snorkeling Trip

1. Swimsuit & Cover-Up

Whether you’re on vacation or just looking forward to a fun weekend in the water, you may want to go shopping for a new swimsuit just for your snorkeling tour. In addition to picking a bright-hued suit that will be easy for friends and family to spot underwater, make sure it fits you well, so you can focus on sightseeing rather than a wardrobe malfunction. In your bag, pack a cover-up or a change of clothes to put on after the tour.

2. Sun Protection Gear

When you snorkel, your backside will get the most sun exposure, and the sparkling water will amplify the effect of the UV rays. You’ll therefore need a reef-safe sunscreen with a high SPF. Apply it 15 minutes before going in the water to let your skin absorb it. If you’re worried about getting sunburned, wear a rashguard to protect your arms and shoulders.

3. Underwater Camera

On a snorkeling tour, an underwater camera can add a whole new dimension to your trip, allowing you to capture your firsthand view and show it to friends and family back on dry land.

4. Water Bottle

While you’ll be surrounded by plenty of water on your snorkeling tour, none of it will be appropriate to drink. Pack a large water bottle since you’ll need to rehydrate after hours of exercise in the hot sun. If you start to feel weak or lightheaded, take a break and drink some water back on the boat.
