Minnesota’s beautiful hillsides and snowy winters produce some of the country’s most exciting ski resorts. No matter which city you’re in, a shuttle service or charter bus company can bring you to the snowy slopes in a few hours or even less. Here are a few of the state’s best ski destinations to choose from.

Where Can You Ski in Minnesota?

1. Lutsen Mountains

With 95 runs across four interconnected mountains and an 825-foot vertical drop, this vast resort offers plenty of options for every skier. The runs are primarily intermediate in difficulty, with a few challenging slopes for a change of pace. In addition to their recently updated snow-making system, they receive an average of 10 feet of snow a season.

2. Spirit Mountain

For pure convenience, there’s no location like Spirit Mountain. This resort is close enough to Duluth to allow your charter bus company to offer half-day ski trips. They also have a well-stocked lodge and five different dining establishments for your comfort. Seven lifts serve their 22 beginner to intermediate runs, and they have options for a wide range of other snow activities, including snowboarding and fat biking.

3. Coffee Mill Ski Area

Thanks to the one-of-a-kind geography at this resort, the coulee blocks the prevailing winds, sheltering skiers and providing a more comfortable experience. While the 14 runs each have different starting points, they all end in the same area, making it easy to keep track of your group. They also offer night skiing.

4. Welch Village

This is another night skiing destination, with 50 trails separated into three distinct areas of increasing difficulty. Recent improvements to the lifts and the parking lot have created an even more inviting atmosphere. Short lift wait times and a wide selection of difficulty levels make this an excellent choice for families.

5. Wild Mountain

For an accessible family destination, choose Wild Mountain. They have an extended ski season, as well as areas for snow tubing and four terrain parks in addition to ski slopes. They also offer a gear lease program so you can get all the equipment your child needs in one place.

For a convenient charter bus company to take your group to the state’s best ski locations, choose Northfield Lines. Based in Saint Paul, MN, they carry passengers from the Twin Cities area to destinations across the US. They have over 30 years of experience and continually improve their transportation services and equipment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they work to protect the health of passengers with regular cleaning and disinfecting, as well as following distancing protocols.
