Install an external infrared lamp with a wide beam angle on the inside of a window shining outward. This will offer enough illumination to capture surveillance footage while keeping bugs away from camera lenses.

2. Use Flea Collars & Insect Repellant

Loop flea collars around the camera casing near the lenses to keep insects away and prevent spiders from having a reason to build webs. Further prevent bugs by spraying the external casing with an insect repellant containing active ingredients of diethyltoluamide (DEET) or picaridin a few times per month.

3. Install Fans

Computer fans are small, battery-powered, and easy to install near cameras. This option produces a steady stream of air that keeps spiders from settling on lenses and building webs. 

4. Apply Lubricants

Lubricants, such as silicon and petroleum jelly, are slippery. When you apply these in a thin layer to the casing of your security cameras, spiders will not be able to grip the surface, deterring web building. Protect the lenses during application by covering them with a piece of cardboard or paper towel.
