Vodka is clear and almost entirely flavorless, so it might seem strange that it’s one of the world’s most popular liquors. While some people prefer to drink it straight, the minimal taste makes vodka an amazing cocktail ingredient. Next time you’re in a cocktail lounge, below are a few vodka-based drinks to try.
Delicious Vodka Cocktails
1. Moscow Mule
The Moscow mule is a tasty, versatile drink perfect for casual gatherings and evenings out at your local cocktail lounge. It also consists of just two ingredients, so most bartenders will be able to make a great Moscow mule.
A Moscow mule is simply a blend of vodka and ginger beer. Traditionally, these cocktails are garnished with a lime wedge and served in a copper mug.
2. Espresso Martini
A little espresso can give the classic vodka martini a delicious, modern twist. This increasingly popular cocktail has a sophisticated blend of flavors and a decadent, dessert-like appearance.
Espresso martinis are made with vodka, coffee liqueur, simple syrup, and fresh espresso. Most bartenders serve them in a martini glass, garnished with a few espresso beans.
3. White Russian
Martinis and other cocktails are best for the evening, but the white Russian is ideal for breakfast or even dessert. To make a white Russian, your bartender will blend vodka, Kahlua®, and heavy whipping cream or milk.
The milk, combined with the coffee flavor of the Kahlua, creates a taste much like you'd find in a cafe. The vodka gives it a little bit of an edge, which makes white Russians great for sipping.
4. Blue Lagoon
If you’re in the mood for something more tropical, consider ordering a blue lagoon. These cocktails have a distinctive sweet flavor and a bright blue color that will make you feel like you’re relaxing on a sandy beach.
To mix up a blue lagoon, your bartender will combine some vodka with Blue Curaçao®, simple syrup, and a splash of lemon juice. They’re usually strained into wide glasses and garnished with a bright slice of lemon.
