How to care for your pet as you go back to work? If your pet got used to the constant attention of you being home and suddenly it goes away, that huge, abrupt change could definitely cause them some anxiety. The main thing you can do now is to help pets remember what it’s like to be left alone by taking a short walk or running an errand without them. At home, encourage them to enjoy independent activities, like a chew toy. While you're away, you can play soothing music or for dogs that prefer the sound of human voices, an audiobook. There have been studies that have shown dogs really like reggae, classical, and jazz music. When you get home from work, 10-30 minutes of play with a favorite toy, a special brushing session (if liked by your pet), or a walk with your leashed dog, etc. This attention will make them feel valued, special, and decreases their anxiety.

These two are clearly in #dogheaven. Abbie and Archie are Dr. Schlasinger’s babies. Look at this cute pic she snapped of them snoozing at home. #veterinarylife #veterinaryclinic #veterinaryhospital #veterinarylove #veterinarycare
