Planning a road trip in an RV can be an exciting adventure. Finding great RV campgrounds to stay in and knowing what items to pack or leave behind will ensure that you and your vehicle are fully prepared for the journey ahead. Here are a few guidelines every traveler should follow.

How to Pack for an RV Adventure

1. Plan Meals in Advance

Don’t overload the RV with cans of food you won’t actually use. Before you hit the road, plan each meal out in advance as best as you can. This will help you determine which cooking supplies are needed, as well as what you should buy from the grocery store. Keep in mind that you don’t necessarily need to stock up for the entire trip in advance since you’ll encounter grocery stores along the route.

2. Gather Campground Essentials

RV campgroundsWhile RV campgrounds provide many amenities, you’re still going to be camping in the great outdoors. Having a few basic supplies will make your stays more enjoyable.

Pack bug spray, sunscreen, camping chairs, flashlights, matches, and string lights that can be hung outside to improve nighttime visibility. Don’t pack firewood. Most RV campgrounds prohibit outside wood and sell their own to prevent the spread of invasive pests. This will also help you save room inside the vehicle cabin.

3. Remember Basic Essentials

Do not forget the basic necessities like toiletries and bedding. Make sure you have sheets, pillows, and blankets for a good night’s sleep. Pack towels, toothbrushes and toothpaste, toilet paper, and other bathroom items, as well. The trip will be much more enjoyable if you can maintain your regular hygiene routine.

Gather some entertainment supplies, as well. Pack some board games, a puzzle, a deck of cards, a portable speaker, and other small items that won’t take up a ton of space while still providing some additional fun to the adventure.
