If you’re visiting Hawaii for the first time, attending a local luau is a must. An iconic Hawaiian cultural experience, it’s more than just a party or show. There are several different aspects that make up a traditional luau. Different facilities may offer unique details or surprises, but there are a few key elements that you should expect from the experience. Here are the basic elements you’ll find at your first Hawaiian luau.

Important Components of a Luau

Traditional Ceremonies

Quickly setting the new standard for a backyard style luau. A unique, hands on, intimate and truly magical 5-star experience. Our guess say this is everything they hoped for and more. Become part of our ohana as you visit the Nutridge Estate. Walk through a rainforest, help us build an imu (underground oven) and enjoy a “front row seat” throughout with our small group family style luau. We encourage everyone to come and experience the magic first-hand.

Dinner & Drinks

Traditional foods include pulled pork, sweet potatoes, chicken fresh fruits and vegetables. The meal is farm-to-table dinner, allowing guests to sample as many items as possible. Guests 21 and over receive two complimentary cocktails and tropical beverages, like mai tais, are especially popular.

Various Entertainment

Music and dancing are included in the luau experience; however, there’s more to the experience than the show. Many venues also offer crafts, games, and stories and songs that allow all guests to participate. All of these activities take place throughout the evening, so you can enjoy a gorgeous Hawaiian sunset and not feel rushed through the process.
