If your home features landscape rocks, you’ll need to understand how to maintain them. However, the cleaning process for these pieces is slightly different from the rest of your landscape. The following guide highlights some effective tips to get the results you want.

3 Tips for Cleaning Your Landscape Rocks

1. Remove Debris

Debris like twigs, trash, and leaves can build upon and between your landscape rocks, decreasing their quality and diminishing the appearance of your property. To remove unwanted items, use a leaf blower. Rake over the rocks for anything that remains. You can do a final cleaning by picking up any leftover debris by hand.

2. Get Rid of Weeds

3. Hose Them Off

Regularly rinsing your landscape rocks will keep them looking new. However, you can’t just apply the water directly over them if they’re in the ground. This could lead to oversaturating the soil, which compromises its nutritional value and kills your grass.

Instead, gather the rocks you’d like to clean and place them on a mesh or plastic sheet. Set the water to a low- to medium-intensity setting and gently rinse off each side. Allow the rocks to dry for 15 to 20 minutes before putting them back in their original spot.
