Mount Carmel, Connecticut, was its first quarry site; later sites opened in Cheshire and Woodbury. The company added quarries in Southwick, Massachusetts, and Meriden, Connecticut, which are still operating today. Between the 1930s and the construction boom after World War II, L. Suzio Construction Co. created its ready-mix concrete supply, mason supply, and asphalt supply companies. By the mid-1940s, the company’s focus had become material supply. Leonardo Suzio passed away in 1945.

• Recent Developments: Suzio’s children and grandchildren continue to manage the company and its subsidiaries. The L. Suzio Concrete Company operates with a new dispatching system that is totally computerized. The facility processes all ready-mix concrete product orders, delivered by the company’s fleet of more than 50 ready-mix trucks.
